Crossing the threshold of Casa Morandi means embarking on a journey through time that takes us back to 1963, the year of his last summer in Grizzana. Here, everything seems to have remained unchanged: every detail, every object still retains its original arrangement as desired by Morandi, creating a dialogue between past and present that allows us to relive scenes from the Master’s daily life.

The library at Casa Morandi is a gateway that offers visitors the opportunity to enter the artist’s mind, explore his deepest interests, and discover the works and texts that helped shape his creative genius. Here, among the shelves filled with volumes, one can glimpse not only his literary preferences but also personal dedications from prominent authors, testifying to his frequent contact with important figures in the world of culture. The walls, decorated with photolithographic reproductions of some of his watercolors, bear witness to the chromatic studies that characterized Morandi’s artistic production, while the vases in his beloved shapes, glasses, and bottles, including that of Bianco Sarti liqueur, add a note of intimacy to the environment.

The dining room, in keeping with the library in its essential and elegant style, features furnishings masterfully designed by Franco Albini, one of the most important and rigorous architects and designers of the 20th century. One of these features a portrait of Giorgio with his sisters Anna and Dina, testifying to the unbreakable bond with his beloved sisters, who always played a fundamental role in the artist’s life.

The uniqueness of Casa Morandi also emerges from the particular combination of Albini’s elegant furnishings and everyday objects from flea markets, such as the famous shell reproduced several times in his works, fruit bowls, books, and magazines, which, in a certain sense, contribute to creating an atmosphere that blends everyday life with the purely artistic dimension.
